Frankly speaking, this is the book after which I really think I understood what it may need to taste success.
A master-piece by Jeffrey Archer.
I always look forward to how an author starts his story.Jeffrey Archer started this story in a most simple manner one can expect(Well he is a master of that----isn't it).
Surely a page turner.
A reader like me ,who loves to divulge in the scene of the book, will surely admire Jeffrey for his great style of writing.
Now for the Story----------(Watch out--It may b a spoiler :P)
Charlie Trumper is grandson of a barrow costermonger(a famous and respectable one).
As long as Charlie remembers he always wanted to sell fruits an vegetables just as his grandpa.
His father works in dock(he is a drunkard) and he is youngest of his four siblings(three older sisters).
Eventually Charlie starts learning the trade, his father went to WW1,and suddenly the day when he buys his own BARROW his grandfather passes away!!
He tries to run his own business and is helped by his neigbour Mr. Salmon.(A baker nd father of Rebecca Salmon).
After Mr. & Mrs. Salmon dies ,Rebecca asks Charlie to take over the bakery on partnership basis. They eventually agree on 60:40 and Charlie excels both in costermongery as well as bakery trade.
After his father dies in WW1 ,Charlie enlists to take his place, leaving instructions to Rebecca to sell everything and keep his share secure for when he returns.
The story then reveals his Rags to Riches story with Rebecca being his love interest
and Guy Trentham spoiling his party for most of the cases.
What I love most about this book is the character revelation and development of Charlie Trumper with each and every incident in his life.He always chooses the positive way to prosper and hence is always rewarded.
